Happy New Year!

I'm going to try this recipe for Figgy Pudding to ring in the new year.


Warm Sticky Figgy Pudding from Food Network
1 1/2 C chopped dried pitted dates
1/2 C chopped dried figs
2 C water
1 tsp baking soda
7 tbl sp butter, softened
1 C superfine sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 C self-rising flour
*2 1/2 oz. dark chocolate-grated
*2 1/2 oz. white chocolate-grated or Carob
butter for coating ramekins
ice cream or whipped creme

Sauce 
2 C brown sugar 
2 C heavy creme

2 sticks of room temperature butter
2 tbl sp of sugar
1/4 tsp salt
2 cups of all purpose flour
3-4 tbl sp of cold water

3/4 cup superfine sugar, plus more for rolling
1/4 tsp salt
1 large egg
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/4 tsp pure peppermint extract (optional)
2 cups all-purpose flour
Red sanding sugar
Bake 11 to 13 minutes @ 350.
